I'd like to swap out the soldered chip and put in a socket. No go at Frye's and radio shack. there was a Sandy's electronics out in the San Fernando Valley, but can't find em these days.

anyone know?

Doesn't the chip just pop out ?

Kurt,

Try All-Electronics in Van Nuys ... they should have one.

With your skills at 'toasting' things electrical ... you might want to pick up a few of these relays, too! Great price for DIN icecube power relays with internal clamping diode ...

Kurt, yes I can verify AllElectronics has them as well as Jameco. I also have a few here, so you are welcome to stop by and I can give you one.
