Car will not start after replacing chip
 

I was re-installing the Steve Wong chip after my smog inspection today, and the car will not start.

I put the original chip back in and the car still will not start, it turns over, but sounds like no spark.

Please help, first DIY, goes down bad.

The car is a 1984 Carrera

Are you putting the chips in properly? Are they properly seated? In the right direction?

Well guess what? It was in backwards. Thanks moazam, I feel like a jackass.

It's not like any of us have ever put a chip in backwards. :rolleyes: :D

Whew, that was close! Any longer and Loren would have jumped in. ;-)

First lesson in EE school was not to put the chip in backwards. Lots of nasty smell and smoke.

and gas smell - I did it. Wife says " How's it going to make the car faster if you can't even start it?" = Thanks dear...

Isn't it amazing that she could so quickly and accurately get past all the PC and concern for your feelings and immediately diagnose the root of the problem?

She saw you fooling with that 'stupid little car' for the first time, saw the results, and went inside to call a plumber.

No way she's gonna let you fix the noisy toilet anymore.
