Relative value of windshield seals

So I'm going to replace my Carrera's windshield seal - the prices for new seals are all over the map - our host's price is the least expensive. Is there any benefit of buying a more expensive seal? Anyone have the ballpark figure for OEM?

I have purchased non oem seals many times and can say from experience they suck. Actually all aftermarket rubbers(particulerly the frt & rear windshield seals) seem to only last 5-7 years before they start splitting or breaking completly. Due to the much higher cost of the OEM rubber I seem to keep buying the aftermarket crap. Maybe im just buying rubber from a inferior manufacturer but I do know Ive used different parts outlets and they all seem to fail within the 5-7 year range. Hell on my 2.7 cis motor the airbox straps dont even last 2 years before they break. Non of my cars are stored outside either. Always in a dark heated garage. Thats my 2 cents anyway. Maybe others have had better experiences.

The windscreen seal (911.541.225.03) is only $45 at Pelican. My local auto glass store will charge $60 for an aftermarket seal, and $427 for an aftermarket windscreen and installation. If I cannot get a cheaper windscreen on eBay ("henrylisk" will not respond to emails about shipping cost), I will take the OEM seal to the local shop and get them to use it on an aftermarket windshield. I hope they know about reusing the metal trim piece.

My suggestion is buy one of those $215.00 windshields figure shipping to be less than $75.00. Then buy an oem seal and have your glass guy install it for $50-75. Total cost for 100% OEM quality would be around $400.00 . Cant beat that deal ! Those shields that that guy is selling are normally sold for over $800.00 at wholesale cost(at least thats how much it is here in New York).

I did see that, and emailed him. He buys them by the crate and would have to a make special packing box to ship to me. Has not yet got back to me on shipping cost. I would worry about it getting broken if not in an original shipping package.
