Clutch cable mount in pedal tube worn. Replace tube?

I think I have seen a few posts talking about how a groove often wears into the pedal tube arm (where the clutch clevis retaining pin passes through) when the bushing gives way. Should I rely on the new bronze bushing to do the job and span this gap or should I replace the entire pedal tube?

the bronze bushing may work ok if the wear is minimal, but otherwise it may break out the bushing down the road. replace the shaft, or weld and reshape the hole if it's worn badly.

It's worn pretty bad. I was really surprised by it. The rear half of the plastic bushing is gone. The clutch arm hole is about 50% through to being totally cut and the retaining pin is about 30% worn through as well.

Any chance you think JB weld could do the job here? I could press in the bushing and then backfill w/JB Weld. Maybe that would be enough to give it the support it needs.

If not I'll probably just buy the $34 part and know that it's solid.

Thanks John.

JB Weld is good stuff but that is a tremendous amount of force and I wouldn't rely on it. Mine was worn to the point that a few more clutch engagements and I'm sure it would have pulled through, which would have been quite a fright if I was stopped at an intersection or crosswalk and it let loose. It's a safety item and therefore should be fixed (welded) or replaced.

Good advice and I am glad to hear from someone who has experienced the same. Yeah, you definitely don't want this part to fail when you're at a stop light with the clutch depressed and then it gives way.

One my son's car we replaced the tube due to wear and a crack manifesting itself at the bottom of the wear groove. Jim
