What an incredibly lousy day!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On the way to meet a group of my car buddies for lunch I picked up a slight scent of smoke! I quickly pulled down an side street and jumped out of the car
The pictures tell the sickening story. The fire fighters concluded it was an electrical fire in the engine compartment. They said the hottest part of the fire was dead center of the motor to the very front. Pictures were taken with my camera phone by one of my buddies.

Oh man, Matthew. That is a tough day. Sorry for your loss. I know it isn't much consolation, but at least you didn't get burned with it.

oh, nothing a little fresh paint won't cure...
Sorry about your loss. The fact that you're alive is the most important part of the story...the rest is just minor details... |

Mathew,
From the pic on your avator, it looks like you had an awesome looking P-Car in my favorite color. I am really sorry to read about your loss but you got out okay, which of course, is the most important thing. I am sure your insurance company will do the right thing and makes things right. I know that isn't much comfort, right this moment but hopefully things will look brighter over the next few days.

I was very fortunate! First thing the insurance company asked was were there any witnesses. A police officer pulled up from the opposite end of the street as I was getting out of the car to check out the problem. Thank God!!! He immediately called the fire department.

Must have had a leak in a fuel line.
I hope you have insurance, too bad for the Porsche RIP. Another reason to carry fire extinguishers but this one it may not have helped. |

The car can be replaced, you can't!. Say a prayer that you were alone in the car and nobody got burned.

Glad you're all right, but that just blows. Everyone says it could be worse, and they're usually right, but that could be a hell of a lot better too. I'm sorry this happened to you.

Glad you are Okay. as the others have said, that is the mostimportant thing here. It is really too bad about the car... It is one of my favorite model / color combo's.

I can't imagine how bad you feel. My sympathies.
Poor thing, I don't think it's even a candidate for a track car. |

Do you feel you could have saved the car with a fire extinguisher ? I always carry one for this kind of situations, but I am not sure if it would be enough...kind of things we only learn the hard way I guess.
Good luck with the insurance, and be glad you are not in New-Jersey for that ! Aurel

How much for the fog lites?
Just kidding, look at this as an opportunity to either get another car just like that one, maybe one just a tiny bit better, or a chance to start a project

That sucks big time Matthew - I can imagine how sick you must feel. But I am glad you have insurance and all will be well in the end. You'll get to find another and better p-car in the end - let me know if I can help in any way.
