Chasing a rattle

I'm chasing a rattle in or behind my cluster on the left side.
Just went for a drive
Funny thing when my hand brake is on and turn the key off all the instruments turn off but not the engine.
Take the hand brake off and the engine will stop.
All I have done is take out two instruments.
I'm dumbfounded
Lyndon

Can you mention at least the model year so I can look into the correct wiring diagrams ?
There is a switch near the handbrake but it should not be in contact with those gauges.

Handbrake is probably pushing against a wire and grounding it (shortcircuit) ?

Anyway I finally fixed the rattle. The fuel lid was vibrating. The wire that opens it is in a tube that was acting like a trumpet into that corner.

PS there are no wires in that tunnel apart from the one earth wire to the hand brake. I know as I have just rebuilt this car. Obviously this earth wire has something to do with it or the hand brake globe ?

That’s a great feeling to find the rattle. I chased one for the better part of a year thinking it was in the dash somewhere. Turned out to be the fire extinguisher mounted in front of passenger seat.
