Question help...aiming H4's

I just finished installing H4 lights w/Sucro relays and I'm having trouble adjusting them. The two adjustment screws don't seem to adjust the beams as I would have expected. I covered one while trying to adjust the other but I can't seem to aim either one high enough.

Tightening the upper screw seems to bring the light up to a point, then doesn't do anything. Loosening the upper screw seems to de-focus the beam?! Did I turn it too much?? I adjusted them back and forth so much I can't tell. I was probably in too much of a hurry as the first time I turned them on one was high beam, one was low (*!#@) so I had to correct that first. I wish they came with some sort of instructions.

Lester,

You have the Bosch H4 lamp assemblies, right?

If so, remove the assembly and inspect the adjustment screws and interface 'buffer' [section of rubber tubing] between adjustment screw tab and the reflector housing. Screws can be bent, tabs can slip out of the rubber, and the rubber can be cracked or missing!

Warren's advice is dead on (as usual ). I'd do as he suggested. Once you figure out if your adjustment screws are okay and working proplerly, here's a website that can help you adjust your headlights.

http://www.autooptiks.com/aiming.html

good luck.

I'm not sure I could add anything to Warren's wisdom (no surprises there, Warren is super-guru, and I'm just nubly little...), but I didn't understand at all how I could move my headlights around with just two screws until I actually opened the thing up and looked. There's actually a third adjusting screw that doesn't adjust -- it's fixed in place, and may be pulling out when you push back too far with the other two. What I found worked was to pull out the whole assembly, eyeball it into place, then install it and fine tune from there. Also discovered a broken rubber doodad ("buffer", as Warren refers to it) while I was in there. Pull the lights, let us know what you find.

Thanks fellas, these lights are brand new-just out of the box. I will check them out, but I don't recall seeing any rubber tubing on anything when I put them in.
Whenever you do anything for the first time I guess there's always something you didn't think of, at least for me...... Thanks again.
