SSI and/or backdate exhaust?

i was reading BA's perforamce handbook and got to thinking,,, is installing SSi's on a post 74 car the same as back dating to a pre 74 exhaust?

if i was to get SSI's for a 3.0 L SC motor would i have tp specify a pre 74 version? if standad SSI's went in would it require the same oil line replace as a back date to a 74?
