Loctite on Sway-Away spring plate height adjuster?
I just put my suspension back together and was curious if those who have sway-away springplates use some sort of loctite on the height adjustment screw to prevent movement and unexpected height changes?
Thanks, Noel |

To expand this question to include factory plates, I'd say don't do it. The suspension will settle and you may need to adjust. On the other hand, a drop or two of the blue Loctite at the ends of the bold at the nut might prevent movement, I dunno.

I'd say play by ear. If the thread fit is tight (should be), I wouldn't worry about it. The weight of the vehicle is always on the fastener anyway. If the thread fit is loose, you can use green or blue threadlocker; something that doesn't require heat to rotate at a later date, to keep the fastener from moving.

You are going to use these to adjust the height when done so I would'nt. I would use nothing.

I would say that once you get the height adjusted where you want it, after corner balance and alignment, I would add a drop or 2 of blue loctite to the threads. It may soak in enuff that it would add an extra factor of safety from it lossening over time. Though the weight of the vehicle is always on the screw, the load varies with suspension movement, which may serve to possibly induce loosening over time.

Thanks guys. I actually have set the ride height already (It is truly amazing how easy it is with the Sway-Away plates). I was just concerned about loosening with track use.
I'm taking it in on Friday for an alignment (Hopefully it doesn't snow tonight). Once I drive the car a couple hundred miles and the suspension settles into its final position, I may corner balance it. ALthough, I did have it corner balanced previously and the ride height had changed so much due to settling and bushing wear that I bet it may not have been THAT balanced for my last couple track weekends.
