worn wiring in fenders

Howdie folks,

small question bout wiring

my headlight and signal turn indicator wiring was kinda worn out..
actully it disintegrated while removing the lights..

now i can deal with electrical connections and making sure it's isolated and not shorting out, but how do most people around here actually do it?

do you look for new connectors to cross from trunk to fender
or do you fabricate some nifty little connector of your own?
i'm talking bout those round 5 pin plugs that have the female mounted to the side of the trunk...

mine where unsalvagable, worn , broken , painted shot .. or let's call it like it is, it looked wasted so i thrashed them during the teardown ...

anyone knows where to find these plugs or similar alternative
anyone has any other ideas that worked out nicely?

The OEM harnesses (complete with the plug, correct color coded wires and end fittings) from the plug in the fender to the lights, horn, etc. are still available, but they are expensive.
Front left is 91161202400, sells for US$148.48 at Pelican and front right is 90161204700, also US$148.48 at Pelican. Jim

that's a lotta money for some piece of cable

have different plan in mind

make new wires, shrink tube the cables attaching to the lights
then lead the wires, in a shring tube through the existing hole

take two pieces of rubber , big enough the cover the hole

and rivet them or bolt them tight

then make decent connections on the inside

black is rubber

blue is the metal

green is wire

i figure it should :

keep things water tight
prevent the wires from rubbin and getting damaged
look pretty decent if done properly

any thoughts?
