Pull the engine and gearbox out and then look at the damage.
The through-out bearing on the 901 is a real solid item and may not need replacing. Measure the clutch plate for wear and check for cracks in the metal plate. Measure the wear on the flywheel and check the presure plate. Replace what needs to be replaced. When I uped the power output of my engine I had a slipping clutch all that was required was more clamping presure from the presure plate. This was only a 2-3 hour job to replace a presure plate in a early 911.

"the pivot ball stud itself, sux when that breaks after years"
- is that what PET calls "bush" M 8x9 #999-504-040-02 or "threaded bush" # 999-504-025-01?? Or is it some thing else? And is the "Little fork looking piece that holds the shift fork to the pivot ball" the thing that PET calls the "retaining plate" # 901-116-077-01? Thanks! |

uhmm at 2:40 amEST I am the early bird aye? I did not look into pet yesterday, but yes those 3 parts are good to replace, JW may have more words of wisdom. I have seen the ball pin snap, the nylon cup wear out completly and the fork retainer nut seperate from the fork.
