Its totally functional Fabricated as close as possible using a Fuel Safe Cell, but I have it blocked off and use the cells inlet, we dont do pit stops in vintage racing just sprint races and a 2 hour enduro w 10 minute pit stop

one more newbie question...
if i want to run the 911R style oil filler, what else do i need besides the oil tank ? guessing filler neck, cap, filter console & hoses. OEM stuff ?? aftermarket ?? again, many thanks for all the input & feedback. cheers jerry |

actually, if you get the set up from a 72 911 oil system and extend the filler neck up to the quarter panel, you end up with the R look and functionality. If you are worried that the 72 tank is a little low on capacity, you can cut and extend it downward. Get all the 72 oil lines and install those too. Most of the stuff is available used. there is one hard line from the suction side of the motor to the tank that is almost identical to the C2 so if that is hard to find used- there ya go.
The original caps are available, or if you want to do something semi trick, get motorcycle or aircraft flat locking caps and bungs (Aircraft Spruce in Fullerton, Ca. has them) |

i'm gonna give the '72 setup a shot. i've got a tank & filter console on the way. many thanks for the tip on the C2 hard line. still poking around re: the cap. you say originals are available. any leads ? hopefully those 8" Fuchs i sent last month are working out well for you. again, thanks a BUNCH! cheers jerry |

You mean these caps? Can be had with the neck for less than 100$ NEW. Only diference is the cap is steel, not aluminum. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1079986632.jpg People fail to realise that parts for the early racers was mostly off the shelf stuff. The fuel filler and neck is off...the Porsche tractors. |

The cap I was permitted to handle (briefly) was some light metal, like aluminum, and had a rib on top with holes in it. It was absoutely concours, NOS condition. I agree with you about the COTS approach. People are paying big $$ these days for stuff that was pretty common back then-- the caps, NSU Prinz taillights, etc. If I ever needed to fill the tank quickly, I'd use a dry-break filler, more advanced technology than the cap/neck. Or would order something from Aircraft Spruce that worked-- maybe these will be considered "classic" in 40 years! |

Unimog, Porsche, MAN, Mercedes, Saurer, Kassböhrer... All the european truck and utility vehicles used them at some time. They are made by BLAU, who still makes them by the thousands... John, The light ones (aluminum) are another matter altogether. These are unobtainium, but look exactly like the steel ones until you touch them. The ribbed fin is a simple brazed-on affair |

I have the catalog on my desk here. They are available in: 30 35 40 50 60 80 100 mm diameter. The 100 mm has 11 "ribs" in the periphery (pic above). The 80 mm has 8 ribs. |

many thanks! i'm going to check the parts bin. pretty sure i can come up w/ one of the 100MM units even if it is in steel. if i can find an application for the 80MM unit, i can probably source one... hopefully w/ a neck that can be adapted. greetings from sunny california jerry |
