New Headliner for Cab top

Was wondering if anyone has replaced the headliner without replacing their cabriolet top.

Is it a difficult job to do? Just trying to get an idea before I screw things up.

Anyone? I'm interested too! After everyone told me not to run without my boot on, I find that my boot is rubbing holes in my headliner

Hey dude,
Very easy job, I did this task in about 3 hours,
Fold the top down , remove the cover , latch handles, break the glue seal along the front of the top. Put the top back up, (leave unlocked). Next, undo the screw with the little plastic cap this allows you to disconect the bows (cables) Undo the screw middle side window, Fold top down again, remove window to top seals break glue seal along sides.
This allows the top to be folded over the back window, This gives access to the headliner, its just glued in with a peice of duct tape placed over the front and rear of the head liner.
If you pay to have it done, stay and watch , You will wish you did it yourself.
I hope I explained it well enough, I'm better on a cab then I am on a keyboard . Good luck.

Why is the boot rubbing a hole in it? I run mine with the boot all the time since I replaced the top 2yrs ago, there is not sign of wear anywhere.

I wish I were that lucky. I've been paranoid about protecting my top/headliner as it too is a couple years old. New boot also. I think perhaps because the boot does move some in relation to the top. I have 4 small holes(quarter size) on the edge of the first fold, which put the holes right above my head. I've tried tightening up on the two elastics that attach behind the back seats and lately to put a folded towel over the folds before installing the boot, but once the holes start they get larger and larger. My boot goes on every morning for the drive to work, 15K last year Sits with the top down under a car cover at work, and the the top goes back up when it gets back home to the garage. That way I cycle the top at least 2 less times a day and still prevent some of the shrinkage and creases guys get from leaving the top down too long. Man, I'm a slave to this car

Has anyone replaced the entire top themselves? Mine is the original top, and needless to say, lets the water right in. I was going to get the parts from Autos Int'l and do it myself, but I've heard that this is a professional only job. Any thoughts?

I replaced mine a couple of years ago, almost drove me insane! It was well worth it though, still looks great. I don't think I would do it again though, lots of hand trimming, fitting, glueing... a real PITA!!!!
