In addition to the catalytic converter; air injection (smog pump many have been removed - look for an extra groove for the air pump belt on the fan pulley), exhaust gas recirculation or EGR, and charcoal cannister to absorb fuel vapors. Jim

Do you have a smog sticker under your engine cover? There are codes on there which corespond to the equipment that should be on the car.
There is a decoder on the California Smogcheck web page here: http://www.smogcheck.ca.gov/stdpage.asp?Body=/GenInfo/Publications/Used_Vehicle_Smog_Equipment_Requirements-Jan_1993.htm From memory, my 82 has codes for Fuel injection, Cat converter and O2 sensor. Tom |
