Question Do PP's New and Improved Targa Top Clips Work?

Hi All:

I've adjusted the heck out of my Targa top and it still pops one of the Targa top clips out do to body flex of the car. Its the second one from the left, over my head. The frame of the top where the clip sits is a little worn down, but not excessively so (in my novice opinion). The question is do the slightly longer "new and improved" clip from our sponsor do a better job of not popping out. I only need one, but there about $30 each. Also, I've thought of trying to dremel out the holes where the clips mount, to move it deeper into the area where the clip engages, but I'd rather not. Any suggestions/comments would be greatly appreciated.

To clip or not to clip;)

Hugh,

I ordered two of the clips and will try them as soon as the snow melts and the roads dry off. I have the same issue as you with my roof, and before I go and spend 8 large, I thought I would give the clips a try.

Hugh,

I've got the exact same problem. My solution was to get the JMPro hardtop, if only I had time to build it out.

for $30, it's worth a try. My top is relatively nice and quiet until it pops out, then only my swearing can drown out the wind noise

Thanks for the feedback. I think I'll order one and see if it solves my problem.

Those clips work well on my Targa. I recommend them.

The clips will really only be a stopgap. You need to retention the skin on the Targa top to prevent the top from being able to flex.

A rebuild of the top will amaze you. It is very, very solid when rebuild correctly.

I bought 4 M-565-265-00 TT Clips in November from PP when they were $5.75 each. When I got them they looked the same as my current (1977) clips. So I returned them. (I haven't got my refund yet so maybe I should ask for them back!)

I have gotten mine adjusted so they stay hooked. Also I finally got rid of the wind noise. And the rattle went away when I replaced the pin covers on the back.
