New wires loose over the fan shroud

I just replaced the 14 year old Beru's with a set of Bosch 7mm resistor wires. I would have gone with Magnecors but I didn't want red.

Problem: the old wires going over the fan shroud had some kind of black tubing. Is this needed? The new wires are loose under the looms on the shroud. I've read in old posts (yes I did search) that you can slice the center of the tubes and fit them over the new wires but the old ones are black and nasty and the new wires are grey. Can I get some other kind of tubing to replace the old ones?

Joe - I just did the exact same swap to Bosch 7mm. I was going to use the old tubing, but it was nasty and cracking. I had some clear tubing laying around and cut short pieces and put a slice in them. I cut the pieces shorter than the width of the wire holders so you can't see the tubing, but it keeps the plus wires snug and from moving around. I guess it wouldn't matter if you used the old black tubing because you wouldn't be able to see it anyway.

Thanks Josh. Where did you find the clear tubing?

Does anyone know of any insulation value that is needed with the tubing? I noticed there was also tubing on the wires between the shoud and the right hand bank of plugs.

I found clear tubing at the local hardware store, in the kitchen/plumbing section. Seems like they come in 20' rolls in various sizes.

Where does one find the actual clips. My old ones are shot.
