How to unplug electrical connector at air flow meter

OK,
Don't nail me too bad here. I can't figure out how to unplug the electrial connector at the front of the air flow meter on my '86 Carrera.

I'm swapping out a cracked air box with a new one and it appears the easiest way is to remove the box and the meter as one unit. However there is the electrical connector that I can't seem to figure out how to unclip. It has a wire (as do most connectors) that goes around the plug. How do minipulate the connector to remove it from the air flow meter?

Thanks guys!

Take a small screw driver and gently lift the wire clip up from one end. carfully take this off (don't bend it) and then the plug will pull right off Good Luck

Shoot, I'd remember if I had a pic or my car in front of me.... A small flat head screw driver and needle nose pliers come to mind.

reach in with your left hand and pull off the plug.

Thanks guys!

So which is it, can I be more forceful and just pull it off (I tried that last night without using too much force as I didn't want to damage anything and it would not come off), or should I use the screwdriver/needle nose plier approach? Really don't want to damage the connector.

Maybe as John states by just pulling hard, it will come off as the wire will "jump up" with force and allow the plug to disconnect. I'll try it!

If it is that standard plug Bosch uses when you squeeze the wire on the top the sides should deflect and release the retainer.

Thanks Rick-l,

I'll be trying all these suggestions. One or all should work - I hope!
