Value of a 911 and 912??
 

Just wondering what the value or what the market is looking at for a 71 911E with suposidly an S engine in it. needs a paint job, rockers replaced (have new rockers), engine and trans work great, interior needs to be swaped with a parts car he has but will be in great condition.
for the 912 it is a 1966 with a new paint job, engine and trans great, interior needs a little help but over all fare condition. both of these cars come with a 1970 912 as a parts (that is where the interior is comeing from). thanks

I just zipped through the latest Excellence at the bookstore yesterday. Bruce A goes over the 'values'. I am surprised at the low values of the early cars.

That said, a 912 seems to top out at around 8k for a very well sorted, good looking driver. Show cars excluded.

The 71 E isn't anything special. Sure sounds like a real project car. I'd look it up as a 'poor' example in Bruce's list. Maybe someone that has Excellence can tell you the values.

Needing paint means 5k right there, if you want to do a good job. I'd leave my hands off the E unless you are retired, have enough $ and look for a challenge. The 912 seems to be the better car to buy, financially, it is practically done.

Just a few thoughts. Either car is worth much more than 5k in my book.

poor = 8015
good = 9113
excellent= 12,200

Geez. My last sentence there was to be:

Either car isn't worth much more than 5k. Looking at those BA numbers, anything over 5k would be a ripoff...

These values in Excellence actually seem quite low. I usually think BA is overestimating values. If you find an excellent 71 E here in the bay area, nobody would sell it to you for 12k. A good one maybe?
