Anyone tried these led lights?

I've found this product and am considering trying them in my car. Anyone else tried these at all?

Where are you going to put them? Blinkers? What color are they?

Not sure about using them yet, but I believe they are available in a range of colours and 12v to 24v. I was thinking of using them as blinkers and taillights... I thought they may be useful as part of a robust light-weight set of rear tail lights as per the 911 R taillight thread.

Virtually indestructible. Should outlast the car.

And there is a study that they light up a bit faster than normal lightbulbs, so in theory they should prevent rearendings.

techweenie has those on his yet to be completed car. i also saw those at performace products on a display mockup. led's are very bright, they dont burn out, and yes they will most likely outlast the car is wired properly. a lot of motorcycle guys (of the crotch rocket variety) use them as tailights and blinkers so as to delete the otherwise ugly rear end setup. if you really want to go all out you can use them on all four corners as blinkers, break lights and running lights (the yellow lights that are on when your headlamps are on). you can pick up led's in many different colors at most electronic stores and wire them up yourself.

i would use em.

I found them on an electrical wholesale website I use to order surveillence and investigation equipment. It is probably not too relevant to you guys over there www.electusdistribution.com.au I think.

Jaycar sell them, they are just down the road from Gabba Central.

Just been checking out the car for a set of 15x7 minilites on the rear. looks like they may be 2 mm too wide.

LED lights are nice, very bright from straight behind, but have very little throw to the side.

Because of that, you'll get very little light anywhere but directly behind the car, and you'll see bright round lights through the lens, because its not throwing any light to the side to hit the reflector.

maybe a redesign is in order, more of a flower effect rather than straight back from the socket. I have perfected the 69-89 rear LW lens housings with encapsulted nuts for the correct pitch lens screw, integral wiring box, dividers for each light function, no drilling required bolt on part....stay tuned

I bought a pair of these from Ace Parts

They are used as sidelights/ parking lights. My intention was to create better day time driving lights without having to use my dipped beam all the time. I was hoping they would be brighter but due to the directional nature of the bulbs, they didn't reflect.

The bulb itself is bright but not noticable during the day (the whole point). Brake bulbs and indicator / turn signal ones would probably be more successful.

I could take pics if need be.

In a short research effort to install leds in my LW FRP rear boxes, the difficulty remains in adding a resistance value to the turn signal led's without dropping the voltage to still get the bimetallic flasher to function correctly. this will require a load resistor inline or create a solid state flasher unit to replace the bi metallic OEM unit. I just need to spend a bit more time on the electricals. the replacement led socket sets that I have seen state they will not operate correctly for turn signals, but function well for parking and brake applications.
