need #s info on my 915
i pulled my engine and trans this weekend. i noticed that my trans had been rebuilt which is a good thing as my car is a 73t. it looks like the case was painted black and new lock nuts were installed. a friend said that it looks like a good rebuild. i want to know if it is the original trans from my car. there are 3 sets of #s on 3 sections of the trans.

Did you get the transmission #. It's stamped into the lowest part of the transmission.

Those are all casting numbers which don't tell one much. Look for the type and serial number stamped on the raised transverse flat surface on the very bottom near the drain plug. It is often defaced by wear as this can be a place that hits if the car goes over something like a speedbump or curb. Jim
