1976 Check valve

Hey all, I'm new to the boards and I have a quick question. I've done a lot of searching on here about check valves for the hot start problem. I have a 1976 911s 2.7 w/CIS. I went ahead and replaced the accumulator because it was leaking fuel. That didn't help my hot start problem so now I want to replace the check valve.

I'm having a hard time finding info for my particular car. Does anyone know if it has an internal or external check valve? Pelican doesn't list a check valve for my year but instead shows a hollow bolt. Is this a valve? If my pump has an internal valve, can someone tell me exactly which parts to buy to add an external valve, as recommended in some of the posts I've read?

Thanks a million,
Nick

The check valve screws into the neck of the fuel pump....

nick. my 75's FP is in the back of the car over the rear sway bar, drivers side. yours the same? when i went to get a new FP i took my old one in. good thing because it took an pump outta a 81SC????? it didnt have the check valve, but i did take the old one off with a new crushwasher and install it onto the new pump. i dont remember it being anything more than a hollow fitting for my banjo fitting... you leaking accumulator should be the problem. what is your car doing? could it be vapor lock?

No, my fuel pump is definitely up front...it's pretty loud. It's probably the classic vapor lock condition. If I wait about 10 minutes after shutting off a hot engine it will take about 30 seconds to start it. Replacing the accumulator didn't help at all. So now I just need to know what type of check valves (and washers, etc) to buy.

i learned along time ago (well about 5 months) that you cant go guessing and throwing money at these damn cars with CIS. you can positively test for a bad check valve. but you will need the CIS test gauges. look around, they can be found cheap! but there are plenty of other causes for a hot start issue. loss of rest pressure (basically what you suspect), air plate sensor is not moving freely (sticks at the beginning), control plunger is sticking (i dont think it is this one), leaking injectors, leaking coldstartvalve, incorrect control pressure (which would be warm up regulator hell).
