Camshaft Question

im starting to build my 2.0 L race engine This will be a .060 overbore w J and E 10.5:1 pistons Alum case w all the race stuff
45MM Intake Valves, 39MM exaust, The Intake and exaust ports are 36MM. 46MM PMO carbs w 38MM Venturis
The power band should be in the 4500-7800 range

What cam is best? Ive had good luck w the webb 120/104 grind
Can I get a little more radical?

2.0L

Mark,

Why .060 over?? All of us are running .040 over!! .060 is only legal with VARA. No other group allows the .060 as a 2.0L. You would have to run with large displacement cars should you chose to run with other clubs.

GE 80 Cams.

Since you are building the 2.0L now, why not put it in the car?

That way you will not be bummed losing to us 2.0L guys with your 2.5.

Honestly, I think you will like the 2.0L better. Teaches you how to corner faster and cary more speed. Makes you a better driver.

Not that you are not a good driver now............................................... ....I better stop before I get myself in trouble.

Are yoo coming to Willow to watch at least????

Lets see here

80 x 66 = 1990.51 cc

80.5080 x 66 = 2015.87 cc (first overbore .020") 1% more

81.0160 x 66 = 2041.39 cc (second overbore .040") 2% more

81.5240 x 66 = 2067.07 cc (third overbore .060") 3% more

I don't know anything about your rule books, though.

Our Club allows .060 Over bore. All other Vintage clubs only allow .040 over bore.

Mark how do yo know all the 2.0 L guys run .040 over were you present when these engines were put together? You have no way of knowing. I also did some research on GE 80 Cams The tech person at webb cam have the same Cam comprable to GE 80, this cam is for a larger displacement engine. Im sticking w my "s" sport cam for the 2.0L I also am running this cam in my 2.5.
I dont care about "other" clubs VARA has a full schedule as it is

.060

I dont know and frankly dont care what other people run. I get tons of satisfaction beating all of them with me .040 2.0L. How more gratafying can it get beating a guy with a full race 2.5L motor with my Race 2.0L. I know it pisses them off.

When will the 2.0 be done???

I would rather stay home with your wife too.

Have a great weekend.

Mark heres the deal, you race w guys Yhat have 2.7's, 2.5's, 2.4's ect ect
I just dont think that w that small diplacement advantage over your 2.0 L it makes too much difference.

For 5 years you have been fast, clean and consistantly in the top
of our run groups. Your car is light, set up just theway you like it, and you are a great driver! You spun, what? maybe 3 times in 5 years?

when my cars ready, even w the 2.5 we will probably glued to each other as usual

2.0L

Yes Mark, It will still (and always will be) the Mark and Mark show. I love racing side by side with you. TRUST. Just watch our Willow and Buttonwillow tapes. That says it all. Bill Modisette was so mad and his mechainc was too, that I beat them in Vegas. His mechanic said to me before Saturdays race, (Bill qualified right behind me) "if you feal a tap on your rear bumper at the start, that is just Bill, telling you to move over.

Dude, After The first turn he was about 5 car lengths back, after the 3rd turn he was about 20 car lenghts back. After the first lap I could not even see him anymore. SO much for the tap on my bumper.

Then on Sunday, they came up to me and said "we want you"
I told them catch me if you can. NO LUCK. He never saw me after lap 1.

I like Bill, but his mechanic is a bit rough. Check out the time sheets from Vegas. They are on the site now.

I love the new configuration.
