early cars... porsche vs. karman body
does either of these shell makers carry a premium over the other? some bodies were stamped at the porsche factory and some were stamped at karmann.
from what i know, the third digit (?) of the VIN is a "1" for porsche and a "3" for karmann. i know the 356's were made by a small handful of coach companies, but the 911?

A quick search of the BBS turned up this thread that should help you out. I've got a Karmann coupe and the short form answer is that there is no difference.
