Got my chin spoiler last week and got around to installing it today. Just a couple of things I learned while installing it on my 1986 cab with air conditioning that I thought I would share:
-remove the underbelly condensor protection bar (re-install after finishing) -remove the underbelly condensor protection grate (re-install after finishing). -have a good number of smaller c-claps handy. The type that are used for woodworking. In 101 Projects Wayne mentions attaching the sides and then taping the spoiler up in the center. I found that using the c-clamps after positioning the spoiler worked excellent. Also have one handy to help compress the bracket to the valance so that enough stud is showing to start the threads on the nylock nut. Otherwise it is a pretty straight forward process. Bill |

I removed my valence and installed the chin spoiler on my workbench. Make a template out of poster board to locate the two holes at the end of the valence.

When drilling the pilot holes for the screws, be careful when you are drilling in the area that would be directly below driver's side headlight area because that's where they run the windshield washer line. I managed to drill right through mine!

I put two of the flat stock pieces in my vice and bent the corners over so they wouldn't "poke" out of the chin spoiler and the radious of the valence. I notice other cars, you could see where the metal piece behind it was sticking through. Didn' like that look. I wanted a nice smooth radious. Looks much better.

My 1977 911S came with a factory chin spoiler. I just ordered a replacement from Pelican. I am expecting to do no drilling, because it used to have one. Am I in for a big suprise?

kach22i,
You should not have to do any drilling. When you look under your car do you see the brass colored mounting plates? You should. The hardest part is getting a wrench on some of the nuts to tighten them. Bill |

I should of took a better look at what was under there, for all I know the whole lower valence could of been replaced sometine in the last 28 years.
They should not let you order parts on-line at 3:00AM with several Vodka tonics in you. ![]()
