Now I know I've gone off the deep end...
Phoenix has had a lot of work done over the years including having most of the interior redone. The one area I've left has been the door pockets. The PO used whatever method he could to just keep them hanging on. At this point the drivers side pocket needs to be lifetd in order to close the door completely. Something needed to be done but they're just so @!#& expensive that I could never justify the cost. I have picked up a few on e-bay and each was a bit better than what I have but nothing great.
Well, thanks to an unplanned but very welcome bonus at work, I bit the bullet and picked up four new door pockets and all listed mounting hardware. (Don't ask how much. I haven't totalled it and don't plan too.) (Timing is great to as I'm getting married in June and after that I the guilt factor would be too great.) As I would like to install these as perfectly as possible, I'm hoping someone here has an exploded view of what pieces go where. Any chance? If the group is interested, I'll photo document the process here.

Are you talking about a new set of early (69-73) pockets??? If so, I stand in awe. Where did you obtain the pockets?
I've been unhappy with the used pockets I have obtained...(I have a pile of them in the garage)..I've been considering also biting the bullet but I'm guessing a full set comes in at somewhere just under $2k? Did you research having an old set restored? I have been idly looking for a shop that does both metal/trim restoration and reupholstery, as that is what would be needed for the door pockets.

Here is what I have for a diagram. What I want to know is where you found the hardware. I have been looking for the piece that sticks out between the two pockets and acts as a stop for the movable one.
Ok, I can't get the image to paste into this thread. I will try again, or I could email it to you. Just let me know. Rob

Thanks for the views! You guys are great.
I orderd the fixed pockets and "all mounting hardware for both fixed and pop-out pockets" direct from the dealer. The Pop-out pockets and bungie cord came from Perf. prod. (Unfortunately our host doesn't have them). Now that I have this view, I can check if I did indeed get all the pieces I need. I'll let you know when I get home. Quote: "Did you research having an old set restored? I have been idly looking for a shop that does both metal/trim restoration and reupholstery, as that is what would be needed for the door pockets" I too casually looked around with no real satisfaction. Then this sudden windfall. I know it was a bit of an irrational position but then again, I'm restoring a 31 year old T so I threw out all rational sense a long time ago. ![]() I do know I'll be much happier havng new factory parts (before they're no longer available) and having perfect doors. I really hate the feeling of a clanky door on a beautiful car. Besides, I'm sure these pockets will increase torque at least 15% ![]() ![]() ![]()
