supertec engine

I have called several porsche shops, thinking about using supertec because of their warranty. Are there any warranty issues I should know about? I see the guy with the early white race car has had a bad experience with these guys (supertec) Would like to know more before making a decision on who gets my motor.....thanks

slope-nz 04-01-2004 10:01 AM

solowerks. Check supertec on the search engine, fair amount of info there.I have a 2.7 MFI engine from them that I like but don't have enough time on it to say any more than that Randy

Good deal, great shop

I did my research and ended up at Supertec. I couldn't be happier. The engine looks and runs great, and the price was exactly what I was quoted. How rare is that. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1084476104.jpg
3.5 Tubro, Carrera cams, K27, big ports
327 rear wheel HP. start to finish 34 days.

WOW solo - roughly how much?

vash 05-13-2004 02:14 PM

call henri at supertec. damn nicest dude on the planet. i think he is good at feeling out your experience and not talking down to you. that is the vibe i got. his prices make, doing your own work a real decision.

Wow! That is beautiful! What a monster! I think I have engine envy..LOL. Getting that type service is indeed rare, but typical for those guys! They treated me the same and I love my engine! Mine is a bit less radical....but they will build exactly what you want. Their warranty and price are great, but I really like the performance they can squeeze out of an engine and still make it reliable as my wife's Lexus. This is my Supertec engine:

Very nice finstone!

fintstone 05-13-2004 02:33 PM

Cliff, I agree! Made me feel very comfortable and helped me figure out exactly the combination needed for the desired results. Great guys! Man, don't you love all the powder coating, stainless steel and plated hardware on that turbo engine?!

All jobs are different but this one was just under 18k.

bigrubberjeep 05-13-2004 02:36 PM

whoa! Definetly got what you paid for.

vash 05-13-2004 02:37 PM

stoney, i swear 10 minutes of our conversation was about your 3.0 liter. he is very proud of what he did for you. the way he talked about it, i almost handed him my credit card, with a big, "i want one!"

both motors are beautiful. half of me, will resist the urge to put a complete engine rebuild in my "done that" list. but the lazy half, says, "henry, can you charge this on these TWO credit cards?"
cliff

fintstone 05-13-2004 02:42 PM

Thanks Jeep..not a turbo, but it is definitely a cut above a typical 3.0. ..Got JE Pistons and webcams...along with the high volume early ('78) heads and CIS....Lots of HP for a light midyear car. The Supertec guys did the install for me too. Made it look like it came that way from the factory.

Wow - that is clean! I been to their shop and they are way more then just a mechanc, very friendly and never talked down to me even when I knew nothing about Porsches (wait, I still don't)

Henry Schmidt 05-13-2004 02:52 PM

Can't be that clean

Hi Stoney
All you guys are too kind. Thanks for the good words.
How many miles on your engine now. I'm guessing you clean it all the time ?

fintstone 05-13-2004 03:00 PM

Yeah Cliff..that is the best part...Henry is a true enthusiast! Did a lot of racing at one time. He took me out and gave me a little driving lesson after he put my engine in. Man! Can that guy drive! I really never new how well my car could perform until then. He knew just how to push the limits. Now that I know what it can do, I am a lot more comfortable pushing it myself.

fintstone 05-13-2004 03:08 PM

Hey Henry!!!
Good to hear from you again...bet your ears were burning! Only a couple thousand so far, but I drive it every day. No, I have not cleaned it since you installed it! It is completely dry (no leaks). All the powder coating, plating, etc has kept it spotless. Like I said...just like my wife's Lexus...just a lot faster! My wife (spoiled brat) wouldn't ride it it before...now it is her first choice when we go somewhere.
Love that turbo engine you guys did! Maybe for my next car!
Stoney

Well Cliff, with that kind of reference I might just have to have you show me how to drive my car some day since I still don't understnd it.

No big frill for you I am sure but it may be worth lunch for your crew.

Test day at Willow

For those of you who want to get the most out of your Porsche, I am trying to put together a test day at Willow to get some of my guys up to speed. Anyone interested in a lot of track time and some top flight instruction ( I plan to have two instructors with me) call and I'll add you to the list. No date is set yet.
That's me, out side front POC enduro 1994. Check out the 500hp turbos behind my 280 hp, 3.0 MFI 914-6. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1084488177.jpg
