Crazy for getting 3rd 911?

Have I totally lost it as others suggest in buying a third 911? I have one really nice 71' 911 Targa. One 72' 911 Targa in a million pieces and working on full restoration and thinking about 68 911L Non sunroof Coupe with turbo flares, etc. The targa's are both stock and the Coupe is appealing to me for something different. I know I can only drive one at a time, but geez the price is right and the 68 is in pretty good shape as I have given it a really close inspection based on my knowledge and experience of re-doing the complete floor pan, front crossmember, rear crossmember, rs frame rail, fuel tank support, rockers, door skins, etc. on the 72 targa.

Yea your crazy finish the project You started! Cause once you get into something new the targa will take a back seat .

Finish what have already started. One project at a time is enough.

Yes you are crazy. One should be a 993, one an early car. the 3rd can then be a specialty model like an RS, R, S/T, or even the "lowly" 'SWB '67S.

Yo have too many similar cars all clustered in a small year range. You need to spread out more to achieve sanity.

Yep another MPS affilicted Pelicanite!!

All good advice and it is heeded. I can't even type that I won't touch the third car until the targa project car is done. Just needs primed, and engine rebuild complete. I guess I am bored while the machine shop work is being done

lparker 04-01-2004 12:58 PM

What the hell are you waiting for? DO IT!

You can always sell it later.

Rick Lee 04-01-2004 01:14 PM

What are you waiting for?

I have two friends who each have at least seven Porsches and I have plenty more friends who have at least two. They're like guns - you always have more than you need, but never as many as you want.

Initially I wanted a show car, a street car and a track car. One 911 may be able to do all those things, but not as nice as three 911’s can! Keep one original (coupe or targa), modify one for the street (targa), and modify one for the track (non-sunroof coupe). Why? Why not!

Genuis for getting a third 911!

Crazy for not having any SCs!

cegerer 04-01-2004 02:13 PM

The 68 sounds like a good start to an ST replica. Go for it! :D

Larry Harris 04-01-2004 03:19 PM

Trade them all in on a Mustang!

jmz 04-01-2004 03:22 PM

the 68L isn't blue is it? my dad had a 68L w/ turbo ...actually they were probably st or RSR flares on it back in the 70s

zotman72 04-01-2004 03:38 PM

Dang dude I can not keep up with two 911s and their needs, and you are going have three? And I ain't married anymore but I have two mistresses in the garage, ---do not think I could handle a threesome... Good luck.

If you have the time, and it's a good price, I'd buy it.

If you decide to pass . . . please let me know! I may be interested.

I thought you said three 911s. I only count one 911 and two Targas. :)

Cheers,

Geoff
