What year will Porsche launch a Hybrid 911?

The trend is on to use electrical hybrid systems to boost the HP of conventional gas units.

Lexus will soon announce:

"300bhp 3.5-litre V6 mated to a 170bhp electric motor. Offering an astounding 470bhp, the car will feature all-wheel drive and be capable of around 60mpg.

But if you think that sounds impressive, then just wait another 12 months, when Lexus' ultimate hybrid - the LS500 GT - will appear. Combining a 400bhp 5.0-litre V8 with a 200bhp electric motor, the car will offer at least 600bhp and be targeted at the Mercedes S-Class flagship, the S600L."
-AutoExpress

So, anyone in the market for a 700-800hp Turbo by the end of the decade?

H also cannot be stored in as small a vol. or wt./hp as gasoline. But the IC engine is very inefficient. An efficent fuel cell could be done with a lot less wt. or vol. compared to the IC engine gas tank set up. How long that will take is a good question.

How about the all-hydraulic torque converter type transmission? No gears fluid drive. Seamless power band.

Hydrogen is less dangerous than gasoline. And the distribution system could be very similar to the current gasoline system. Also, I could probably modify my 3.2 to burn H with little mods.

Oh, and if you think hydrogen is more dangerous than gasoline then consider how big a hole would have been left by the Hindenburg if it had been filled with gasloline vapor?

If Porsche does not buy the hybrid technology from Toyota like Ford did a month ago, it will never have enough money to develop the system on its own. GM has gone too far ahead with the the full electric vehicle which found to be too impratical for regular use. Hybrid is the way to go.

I am ready now, I think I will go out back and hook up those 100 hp industrial washing machine motors to the front hubs, and apply thin film photo-voltaics to the hood.

Porsche will have a hybrid as soon as it licenses the Toyota system.

AS a strong engineering company I hope Porsche comes up with a few ideas of its own. Although the porsche synchro was a bad idea and the mitsu countershaft - good so........ hmmmmm. Anyrate the more ideas the better, after all it was the lack thereof in the beginning that stuck us in this mess, right?
