carpet install question - mystery pieces

Replacing the carpet in my 77 911 and purchased new set from our host (not the RS but the standard version). Some of the original carpet was missing so matching piece-for-piece wasn't always helpful. Before I start glueing, I have these two pieces that don't have an original match and I can't seem to see where they fit. These two pieces are mirror images of each other and they each have a three inch wide strip of hard plastic attached to the back which runs vertically from bottom to top (you might barely see the two points where the plastic is mounted through the front). They have three finished edges as well. I wanted to check before I start because many pieces must be set in a particular sequence. I just can't seem to figure where these might go and thought I'd be well served to check. I've checked the technical article and a couple other pics of people's carpet installation and can't find them there either! At this moment I have this feeling my IQ is somewhere between idiotic and moronic.... Any help? TIA!
-- Bob

Those are for the tops of the back seats. (if you have back seats)

It's ok, I had the same question when I pulled them out.

No A/C, no Sun Roof, no power windows. Fast and light, just the way I like it. (Sad to say, it's sold. But at least it remains with us on this board.)

Ohh, and I should mention that if you do have the seat backs, and want to use these two pieces, the plastic pieces on the back go where the crease will be when the seat backs are in the UP position. The trailing edges go behind the vinal tray and each have a screw close by the wheel wells.

Time to drag 'em out, or decide to delete 'em.
If you run with them, check out how the carpet is attached. Mine were not only glued but also stapled (stock carpet, so I'm assuming it was from the factory that way?). I pulled the staples and ended up using them to keep the new carpet FIRMLY in place. I just used a tack hammer to put them back in. Although, I mainly just used them around the edges.
