Hi,
I looked around on the forum but noticed there isn't a Carrera GT forum yet, so i'll post my topic here. Hope that's ok ![]() Browsing over the net I came across this file: http://www.albertweb.de/Sound-Spiele/Porschesounds/Carrera%20GT.mp3 It must be one of the most beautiful sounds ever made 'by man'. It's the best i could come up with, but i'm sure there are a lot more of them around on the web... |

Sounds a lot like F1 from a few years ago. Man what a sound. Although having experienced v-12 F1 Ferraris in person, well you can imagine my preference.

Well, i haven't heard anything in the past 33 years that beats the wail of a 917 at 8400 rpm down the Mulsanne Strait ... from inside the cockpit! That WAS their song in Le Mans, you know!
Jo Siffert's 917PA sounded pretty good from the pits in November, 1969, too!

1994 Ferrari F1 V12. Maybe not the best sound, but definitely the most memorable. Island911 & I had the chance to see it up close at a local concour event last summer. We got to hear it fire up and rev to 16k+ for about a minute while standing about 6 feet away!
![]() ![]() Even with earplugs, the sound pressure at those (high) frequencies made my skull vibrate! Amazing. ![]() |

I was in Lemans in 1971 and the Matra Simca sounded the most frantic. The Ferrari 512 was also a real thrill. Most of the F-1 circus had very nice engine sounds but the BRM and Ferrari were always unique. Iwas in Monaco in 1971 and saw Jackie stewart race with Graham Hill...not 19,000 RPMs but still memorable.

Oh quite right, i've been to a couple of F1 races in the last three years and every time i have to get used to the enormous thunder of the V10's at 19000 rpm. It just pure energy.
I also once heard an Aston Martin Vanquish V12, which must have the most beautiful idle and possibly one of the best accelleration sounds ever made. But to get back on my first statement: the engine of the Carrera GT is streetlegal. So maybe i should rephrase: the Porsche Carrera GT V10 engine must be the best 'streetlegal' sound so far. Like F1, it's just pure ENERGY. |

Also, this movie shows how impressive the car is to some people
![]() http://people.msoe.edu/~youngs/Video.htm Be advised: 30MB and DO NOT DRIVE WHILE FILMING (at 160mph) Oh and just check the sound of the Carrera's, even at 150mph you'll hear the V10 scream. Last edited by arnebret; 04-02-2004 at 07:50 AM.. |
