Chipped Euro Carrera 3.2
I just successfully installed Steve Wong's chip to my stock European Carrera 3.2 (1984). Chip was soldered in but I took a risk: soldered stock out and new in and succeed (who dares wins).
Does anyone have experiences on similar? So, stock and European and Steve Wong's chip. I have only one day experience so personally hard to say yet. In practise should I be concerned about risking my engine due to detonation or increased wear? Thanks /TcJ

TCJ hi there!!
I s/w my 85 p car about 6 months ago and it is a lot more responsive and just a tad louder in the exhaust note. Much smother in the running. Steve was very helpful and at the end of the day money well spent. |

I added a Steve W chip, euro pre-muff and a B & B sport muff on my '88......noticeable difference over stock. A friend in CA did exactly the same mod to his CS and dyno'd it at with an estimated 243hp.
There should be no negative engine issues that I am aware of with Steve's chips. If you ordered the chip with the higher red line (6700 vs. the stock 6400 I think), that may be one down side if you regularly take it to red line. Many believe the 3.2 should not be spun that high due to the reduced diameter of the rod bolts of the 3.2.

Thanks,
My first impressions are similar. Quicker throttle reponse and more race car type of engine sound (I may be dreaming). However, without a dyno it might be hard to recognize the promised about 5% power increase. /TcJ
