Unhappy wipers dead

To start, I've done a search and couldn't find what I needed.

I started the car this morning to drive to work ('85 911) and the wipers wouldn't work. I checked the fuse and it's still good. I also tried the intermitent wiper switch and I could here it switch on but no power goes to the wipers. I wiggled the arms to see if they were hanging up and there didn't seem to be a problem there. Should I start with the wiper switch on the collumn or check the motor?
Thanks in advance for any advice.

I'd start with checking the power at the motor. That'll split in half the places you need to look.

There is a rectangular shaped black relay inside the dashboard for the wipers. Try that and the wiring to it.

Are you sure you checked the correct fuse?

Try to chase the wiring within the dash. You may have a broken connection.

Check to see if the round plug from the column mtd switch that goes into the bottom of the dash has not loosened.

It could be your column switch.

Good luck and let us know if you find the problem.

Hmmm...good excuse for a 993 maybe? It's flimsy but it is something.

OK problem solved!

While I was at my work bench in the garage looking at some wiring diagrams I let my 2 year old son sit in the P-car and pretend to drive, which he loves to do. I looked over to check on him and I couldn't see him. So I go and look in the car and there he is under the steering wheel pulling at the wires under the dash.

So I plug everything back in and check ALL conections under the dash, and voila, the wipers are working again.

Lessons learned:
1) Buy son a go-kart ASAP
2) Check connections first

Sam, I've actually been thinking about a second P-car, either a 993 or a 951. but I'll never give up The Pipes.

Never give up the pipes!!! A 951 would be a whole lotta fun! Glad everything is back together...

...any dyno runs yet?

Glad your wipers work but has anyone had an intermittent problem with wipers...turn on the switch and it doesn't work unless you move the lever...it stops in mid motion or does not work right away? Maybe I could borrow your son.

Talk about getting 'em started at an early age. It looks like Cole is among the youngest Porsche wrench/drivers. I think he will be running with red group by the time he gets his driver's license .

DG624,
Sounds like a relay problem if I were to guess. BTW, you don't want my son working on your car. He just billed me for the electrical work he did on my car. He says he wants payment in Legos.
