74 911s for sale in Houston
I test drove a 74 911s yesterday. The body is in terrible shape but the engine, clutch and transmission are great. Color is silver.
Negatives: Rust on the window seal - a lot of it Rust under the battery The car really needs to be completely stripped and re-painted No front bumper, but he has a 996 or 993 conversion kit (don't kill the messenger) Rear bumper is converted to 996 or 993 style (again, I don't like it) Seats are covered and need to be replaced Need front shocks - minor thing, but the front of the car was swaying too much Leather on Momo steering wheel is shot Positves Engine is very strong (100K miles on odometer) New clutch Transmission is tight Roll cage A/C out, but parts come with car Dash is o.k. He is asking $5K, but he might take less. This would be a good track conversion car and restoration project, but I don't have the garage space or time for it. It might be worth purchasing and having someone else restore it for me. What do you think? Any other Pelican heads interested? He's leaving for Iraq in about 1 month and needs to sell it. Or what about putting it into storage and parting it on e-bay to make some money?

Razorracer,
I say but it, store it, and then think about what you are going to do to it when you get back from Iraq. Offer him $4k.

The rust & hack job conversion would scare me off. You could end up putting $10k in it just to make it an $8k car.

$2500.00 tops or I'd walk. Unless you can weld and paint yourself, the rust and body conversion will cost a fortune to recover from. Unless the engine was rebuilt, 100,000 miles is not low miles on a 2.7 from Houston that once had A/C. My two cents. Jim
