early 911 interior...carpet and detail questions...

Got a kit a while back and determined now is the time to install...

Big step as I want to do it right, several of the vinyl trim parts will be recovered with material but does anyone know a good site/description of the carpet install?? Looking for the knowledge,thanks....

Also small trim screws, the rear leather straps for the jump seats, any ideas/prices on sourcing these?

Oh, Brown bread, dynamat or plain old carpet underlay...varying sources, prices and opinions...any percentages on the right way to go?

Thanksguys...(and any girls)

Brown bead is brand name of the heavy asphaltic sound deadener material. Search for webb and sound - to get some posts on what sound attenuation can be done. I would avoid all the asphalitc materials if care about wt. -- and if you drive a sports car, you should care.

Another trick is to put the sound pads out in strips in a crisscross pattern to reduce the wt. used while still eliminating the floor pan as a drum head resonator.

Some felt pads on top will not weigh much and will be a lot softer for your feet (I like to drive barefoot) as well as cut sound and heat transfer a bit.

Garage
Stoddard sells the trim screws.

For the leather straps, I THINK you'll have to have these made. There's a source for leather door straps in this thread who should be able to help you. Scroll down near the bottom of the first page.

Mike,

Great site. I found installing this section of carpeting to be the most difficult. Not the carpeting, but the vinyl that gets tucked in behind the door seal. What is the trick to getting it to look perfect?

Hi Chuck,
Sorry, but I can't help with your question. The site is not mine, its just a site I found searching when considering doing a carpet install on my car and thought it would be helpful to the original poster. Take care,
Mike

How serious are you about this? If really serious? Come north, inspect, take all the notes and pics you care to...the interior is still original.

what year is your car? My car has nice original interior if you want to see one. I also have several cans of original screws and bolts that you can look through from early cars.
