I wouldn’t prefer aluminum over magnesium or visa-versa. They each have their place in the Porsche saga. I disagree with the characterization of mag parts unless you are going to display on your beach-front deck and it gets surf every 12 hours. The gray-brown patina is appropriate for those parts and will last a long, long time in a relatively protected environment.

Just like building your Porsche, your personal preference prevails. You can display a psychedelic, multi-color collection of painted Porsche parts, a virgin original appearing engine that would win a concourse d’elegance, or anywhere in-between. Your choice.

Please step back and define for yourself what you want. It can be just what is available cheep right now, can evolve into a really cool display with time, and follow your interests.

The Factory has always had really cool displays (potential coffee tables) with their cut-away engines and transmissions. Some were even animated.

My 2c.

Best,
Grady
