Track Day Aftermath part II

Thanks to all of you that helped with the oil leak issue on my 79 SC after two days of DE.

I had access to a pit this weekend and discoverd to my great delight that it was not the flywheel seal or breather hose. The leak turned out to be the oil line that runs from the tank around the back of the engine to the left side of the case. The large nut that connects the line to the case was loose and just a slight bit of tightening cured the leak. The only complication is that the nut is very difficult to reach without taking off the heat exchangers. We managed to get it tight enough for the time being. The cause seemed to be that the portion of the line that runs across the rear of the engine was loose in the hanging braket and the movement loosened the nut at the case.

I wanted to pass on the experience in case anyone else has a similar problem. Thanks again for the suggestions and help.

Man, I was just fighting that same nut when I put the SSI's on my car. And all I can say is mine was anything BUT loose! Besides that, who has a 36mm super thin wrench lying around. I had to borrow one. I can only imagine what it's like trying to get to it with the HE's on.

So, what are you going to do with the money you saved? ;)

Chili, interesting that you should ask.......those racing seats with a new harness bar setup look like a real possibility now. And now that i have had a better looks at the heat exchangers, I think that some SSI's are next on the list. :)
