Questions for the Porsche Audio Experts
Howdy!
Can anyone tell me how much power (watts) the factory fader in an '85 Carrera can handle? Also, has anyone found a pair of front speakers that can be mounted with the factory speaker grills? I've got an extra grill that I'm going to experiment with, however before I take the time, I thought I'd check for an easy out. Thanks!

I found that the easiest replacement is a pair of Blaupuncts in front and back. The salesguy at Crutchfield recommended Polks, but they didn't fit without cutting. The factory grills did not fit back on, but the grills that came with it look good enough. If you're interested, I could take a photo for you.
As far as the fader, my radio is also a Blaupunct with 25 watts(? ). I run the back through it just fine, the fronts I direct wired (as of last week). Before that, I powered the whole car with just the front outputs (I wired it up originally in December- it was cold!!) I doubt this answered your question, however

i wouldn't ask too much of the stock fader switch, there are resistance issues which could damage newer aftermarket radios, although i've only seen a few die from this......
i haven't seen a stock 911 grill in a very long time.......take it with you and visit some stores to match it up.
