78 VIN look up?
Trying to run a Carfax on a 78 I am buying, but 17 # vin is required. Is it not possible to go back that far? The VIN on the 78 is 9 #'s and I can't seem to find a way to look it up anywhere.

83 is the earliest.....you MAY get some information from the DMV....editted for privacy concerns.
Best to ask for maintenance records.......if none, that would be a justification for a price reduction.
