Hi-torque Starter Wiring

I have a 1983 SC and I am attempting to reconnect my new starter and and have discovered the wiring hookups are different.

There are 3 wires. The battery wire, solid yellow wire, and a yellow/blue wire.

The starter is installed. the terminals are listed from the top to the bottom.

1. The first connection was the large wire from the battery to the 13mm terminal. That was easy.

2. The second connection (a yellow/blue wire) goes to the middle terminal (10mm). Correct?

3. The solid yellow wire (I believe this is the ignition wire) goes to the middle terminal terminal as well? Correct?

There is a third terminal connection(8mm), does anything connect to this terminal?

Your help is appreciated in advance

Isn't there a tech article that may help you out? I haven't read it myself so apologies if it doesn't answer your question. Just wanted to make sure you knew it was there.

There is a tech article in the archives but is was not specific enough for me.

I just wish to be carefull with the connections. High voltage damages electrical parts.

didnt your hi torque starter come with a "y" connection for the spade connectors? if i remember correctly, the new starter will only have the big nut connector and one other small spade connector. then, along with the starter, there is a tiny copper spade connector that splits off into two, one for each of the separate yellow wires. that was how my starter came, which is consistant with the tech article. one yellow wire is for the cold start valve and the other goes to ignition. i think.

Does the car start?

The other yellow wire goes nowhere......to the best of my recollection. Tape it up!
