Road trip- german highway!

So I felt it had been long enough that I didn't drive any of the Porsches. Which car to get out, but the fastest? We had to go get some parts for a friand in Köln, Germany (Hi Don!), so we said let's combine things.
First 200 kms was pottering to the german border. Can you see the car's impatient to stretch its legs?

Let's start in earnest:

This signs elicits a Pavlovian reflex that consists in burying one's right foot as deep as it will go in the footwell, and then push some more:

Yeeeehah!!

Actually she did 250 (160 mph), and I did a measly 240.
We had a nice challenge (sort of) from that 944S2. Up to 200, it was very good, from there on, it was goodbye, thanks for showing up.

Oh Lord, Why can't we get a break??

That darn thing stopped at 230 in the overtaking lane. Went dead. Good oil pressure, no temperature, not on the fuel reserve, just dead. MC managed to coast to the emergency lane, and we called the ADAC. After 1 hour the guy showed up, and yes, the tank was empty. That weasel of a reserve light was dead, even though it worked in the morning. Oh well, a fill-up, and we were on again.
For those who remember the thread when I grenaded the engine of my carrera 3.0, does this pic ring a bell (before we knew what was wrong):

Oh yes, she was p*ssed...

Anyway, some fuel. That scene was repeated a lot of times during the day. Fuel consumption at about 22 liters per 100 Kms.

The car kept good oil pressure, and temperature the whole trip, zero problems there. The new Carrera oil cooler with widemouth fittings did a remarkable job:

Whoyoulookin'at??

Then back into Switzerland and it's "coitus interruptus" as we get into a deep coma for the last 2 hours:

The last checkup of the car tonight show's that there's no thing as a free lunch. This is smack in the middle of the windshield, and is getting larger as I type:

Luckily it is covered by insurance.

Still, 1480 Kms, 13 hours from start to stop, no accidents, just fun.

160 MPH, that must have been fun. What's the speed limit there?
Those temps are real low. The widemouth cooler seems to be keeping you really cool from the pic of the temp gauge.

Goerge, love that car, must have been nice to get it up to speed legally. I spent 3.5 years stationed in Germany. Glad everything went relatively well.

Steve, about 2/3 of the german highways are unrestricted. Where there is a limit, you'd better watch it, though.
On-ramp, it is a 1983 930. The front fogs were removed and the holes filled. And you have not seen her in the Cup car yet...
The interior color is olive green, from the special wishes, the exterior is "ziegelrot" or brick red metallic.

I know what you mean by thirsty George. I'm just back from the Techno Classica Essen classic car show, after a 1800 miles round trip from Norway over the past weekend. Traffic was dense, so all we made was 220 kph (136mph) over short distances. For long distances we where in dense traffic doing only 130 kph (80mph). But still the baby slurped 15 liters per 100 km.

More about the trip, with pictures from the show, in a later thread
