Empty Cat
I know some of you don't like this mod, but I chose to do it and I like the sound it brings to the car. I also refinished it with some hi-temp ceramic paint.

I thought you were going to sell it. Did you figure out how to put child seats in it?

zerort, what kind of muffler do you have after the cat? I have a Euro spec. with the premuffler and I want to change mufflers from the factory piece.

I thought it would be hard to sell such a nice Targa. Do you think you might do a DE event this summer, I was thinking about the one at Waterford Hills on August 12th.

Oh Haha- Dansk sport muffler - single in and out.
The muffler is loose so that is why it is sagging in the picture. Needs a new gasket. ![]() |

How did you do it? How difficult was it?

It took a couple of hours after the removal from the car. If I had to do it all over I would have just bored a 1 1/2" hole in it instead of gutting the whole thing, but oh well. It drills really easy.

Stone Chips??? What do you mean Stone Chips? I could get my car all gacked up? I thought a DE was tooling around the track at about 1/2 speed or something. Fill me in.

Toolman,
I know that instructors take you out in your car and have you push it to you and your cars limits. So if you lose it you will be in the gravel run off areas. Also there are other cars out on the track at the same time and I know you pass or they pass you so they will be throwing debris up. That is why if you look at pictures from DE events on this board some people have their headlights taped up. I think I will pass, but I would like to go and watch some time. Let me know what you think, maybe we could make a day of it. Ed |

Waterford is a hack track. Grattan is open for as little as 1500 a day. Take a day off work and rent it. That is what I do with my buds and our bikes (plus, waterford is a no-bike track). 8 hours of letting it rip!

I think I will be a spectator before I sign up for one. The next one is August 12th on a Thursday. Thank You Ed for the great info. My car got injured yesterday on the way back from my buddies house on lake Fenton. Some A-Hole in a ranger pick up clipped my front fender while changing lanes. I didn't even feel it but I now have to repaint the bumper, fender, and headlight ring. I hate people.

Wow, you are kidding me. That blows. Sorry about your loss. That is the reason it almost doesn't pay to drive our cars. At least you know a good bodyman paint guy. Ha Ha!
Also, I wouldn't mind getting together with a few people to rent Gratten as was mentioned. Sounds good to me. |

It will only take a teaspoon of body filler but the disassembly of the bumper and all the seals around the fender will take a good day of work. I second the notion of renting Grattan, I wonder if Mr BCH could keep us in mind for the next one.....

Uh, Oh, I see a trend here. Everyone from our little run is getting damage to their cars. Am I next?

God, I sure hope not. It does seem like all the damage is from other flaming stupid idiots, not the owners themselves, so you may not have a choice in the matter.

Looks like Sept 24-25 Grattan is rented to West MI Porsche club. Anyone know who they area?
When we get the track it has always been for bikes. Only been round Grattan once in a car, 50 million times by bike. All the weekends are booked till mid Oct. Everytime I have been privately, it was a weekday. Maybe I should start a thread to check if there is adequate interest in doing something like a Monday track rental? |
