Anyone use The Collection for PPI (Miami)

OK...I've found the one! Beautiful 87, Silver/Burgundy Leather, ORIGINAL OWNER WITH ALL RECIEPTS, 50k MILES!

Owner recommends The Collection (the collection.com,a p-car dealer) in Miami for PPI. Anyone have experience with this outfit??? I recognise that they are a dealer and so the PPI will be $$, but I don't know a reliable private shop. Any recommendations?

Just think of it this way, now I can get my hands dirty rooting around an air cooled engine and stop posting "stories" about cars I have found.

Thanks for putting up with my rantings, I'm ready to Join the Tribe.

Doesn't anyone know of a good p-car wrench in Miami???

I would avoid the Collection just because it's a dealership and it appears that the seller has a relationship with them. Take it to Scot Finley in South Miami, near Red Road and US1. He used to have a good reputation when I lived in Miami 5 years ago. See if he is still there. He is rather expensive though.

Try Turbowerks in Ft. Lauderdale.

Used them twice.

1st time was for my 84, computer died 2 weeks after the car arrived in NY, don't blame them, failing computer is almost impossible to detect.
Shop that I took it to in NY to diagnose the problem also did a PPI as they like to do with all cars new to their shop. Identical to Turbowerks PPI.

Was considering a C4 I found in FL, sent it to Turbowerks and they found a couple of things on visual inspection that they did not like and suggested I pass on the car. Now they could have just done a complete PPI and made some money off of me but they didn't.

Jose at Turbo Werks is really good, So is Vince at Gulf Performance In Pompano, FL. I have used both of these guys for parts and advice.

Scott, which shop in NY did you use?

stomachmonkey 04-11-2004 06:39 PM

RPM Racing in Huntington NY.

Ask for Russ.

There are several members of this board that use them, one is also from the city.

Good luck

I can recomend Butch Stokes just off of I-95 in Hallandale.

I almost bought a 993 that was cared for by the Collection. My impression was that this is the kind of place for P-car owners who have more dollars than sense. I never could get one guy on the phone there and the seller I was dealing with was almost in tears over what they were charging him for relatively minor stuff.

Has anyone used Bacchus Auto Repair in Ft.Laud, off of I-95 and Pembroke? (or is it Pines...)

Hes always got a bunch of fancy cars in his garage but I'm not sure how good he is with Porsches.

Alan - please send me a PM. I have a few comments about the car I believe you are looking at.

Scott Finnley and Butch Stokes are both excellent. The Collection wouldn't know what to do with an older 911. They are only experienced with the newer stuff.

TurboWerks is great talk to Jose (he also works pit crew for Alex Job racing in the American Lamans) tell him Armando Diaz sent you he'll treat you good.
If you need a second choice it would be Forgein Affairs (Bob is the president of POC and lead tech and PCA).
