911 sc 3.0

I just bought a 78 911sc. 3.0
Are there any problems with the 3.0's and are there any valve adjustments or things that need checked routinely?

Try the search function against "head studs", "pop off valve", "rubber centered clutch", "chain tensioner". That should keep you pretty busy reading for a while. Let's see a PIC of your car.

click on post reply button and at the bottom of the screen there is an attach multiple button, click on that and then use the browse button to attach your picture file.

Looks good, congratulations! Looks like it's time to get the garage cleaned out for the SC.

Check the Pelican classifieds. I found mine here and it was a local pickup too.

Welcome to the SCWDP. Nice looking car. If you have a Cat and your local regs will allow, replace it with a test pipe (or put it back on when testing time is near). Redline comes much faster with out the Cat.

they do not do any sniff testing here but they do require cats to be in place. All they do is look. I have been deined a motor vehicle inspection sticker before cause I had removed a cat. I took the one off of my truck, gutted it and bolted the empty shell back on.. it passes. I have been watching the classifieds here for a while. I have to sell my 944 now. Maybe I will post it here.

A euro premuffler will gain you more than a cat, and it looks like a cat. If you put heat shield around it, I doubt any inspectors could tell the difference.

I second Jadams remarks. It was a little cool in MN this morning and the car backfired like a rifle shot. Woulda blown an air box for sure.
CIS can be a little finicky. If it begins to run rough it will most lokely be the injectors. CIS. You might have to bleed the fuel system. Easy to do. Costs nothing.

I would get the P-shop manuals $$$ if not then the Bentley would be a good second.

Whatever you spend on a manual will be returned in savings.

If this is your first Porsche learn the heater/defroster controls. It sucks to be in traffic and trying to read that little sticker on your glove box door.

Valves? Cheap if you can DIY.

Enjoy! great looking car.

On the tail my buddy bought a guards red tail and you can't tell it's from a different car.
