Mysterious clunk

I get a mysterious clunk noise like the car is bottoming out when I hit a pot hole on the right hand side. The left side is fine. Any suggestions on what it could be. I just ordered new shocks today. Hopefully that is it but wondering what else could cause it.

Thanks,

David

Front or rear. Loose shock would be the most obvious problem.

If/when you find out let me know. I have been told my "clunking noise" is coming from bushing...but I have not had a chance to replace it.

Worn a-arm bushings - causes torsion bar to clunk against the tube housing it.

Could also be a torn rear sway bar mount - a very common problem.

As I am new to porsche......it might not be applicable.
For strange clunking inthe nose of many cars turn out to be a strut bearing plate in the top mount of the strut tower.
If everything else looks ok.................

Check the ball joints on the a-arms.

I had a clunking sound for a while. It was solved when I reinstalled the rear sway bar which the previous owner installed upside down!!!

i had what i thought was a similar sound coming from the rear - it was one of the front strut inserts come loose from when i installed them a year a so ago.
