Heater Hose through engine sheet metal blocked by Tensioner hard lines. What to do?

Had the tensioner upgrade done to my motor during a recent rebuild. Got the engine back and went to put my heater hoses back on and the 60mm hose is blocked by the hard lines from the tensioner. Talking about the passenger side hose that comes from the blower and goes into the HE. Should I run 50mm hose and use the reducer that comes with A/C equipped cars? I am not sure this will work either. The hard line looks to be obstructing more than 10mm of the hose opening.

What have the tensioner upgrade folks done to get around this?

Is it blocking the opening or is the fitting just touching the hose as it passes through? I had the same problem although it was minor. I used the orange heater hose from Aircraft Spruce & Specialty (1-877-4-SPRUCE). The orange hose is supposed to be longer lasting (FAA approved etc.). It's pretty flexible and has more 'give' to get by that oil line fitting.

It's just blocking some of the opening. There's an elbow/bend in the oil line and the bend protrudes over the opening for the heater hose. I tried to run the OEM 60mm throuhg it. I tried to massage it into submission but the hose gave way. Perhaps the more flexible hose that you describe is what most people are using.

chrisp, i think a friend of mine had that problem. he used a 3" diameter section of exhaust pipe from some muffler shop. then he just cut the 60mm heater hose into two sections and used the small pipe section as a "coupler" to get him past the tight section. i did the same thing, just to make taking that damn hose on and off easier. all it took was two extra hose clamps. my tensioners are going in this weekend. thanks for the heads up.

I had this problem after installing tensioners on my '73S. I just lossened the feed bolt on the end of the oil line, pivoted the oil line out of the way, and retightened the feed bolt. This took care of the heater hose clearance problem. I don't know if it will work the same way in a later 911, but it can't hurt to try.
