Optima D51 battery
Having read lots of sealed battery and "holy crap my front pan rusted out" threads, I want to get a sealed battery. Looking at Odyssey and the Optima orange/red top which seems to be popular here and found this:
Optima Yellow Top D51 Its a dual deep cycle/starter battery geared for the import crowd. Presumably this will help me run my subwoofer disguised as a NOS tank and windsheild washer LEDs even better than before. ![]() No info in the archives (at least that I could find) on this one. Its main benefit is its 26lb weight with 500 CCAs and 70 minute reserve - making it just slightly better, spec wise, than the Odyssey PC925MJT. Just wondering is anyone is running this particular battery and had any comments on it. FWIW, my car is a weekend driver and doesn't see the street much in the cold months due to the salt.

I have two Optimas' in other cars and will be placing one in the 911 soon. Outstanding battery, especially running some serious auxcilary stuff in the wagon. It is the best battery I've ever tried. (However, I will deny saying that publically unless I get paid big bucks)

I just got my car back from the shop after a 2.5 month stay for a new motor. They apparently overcharged the batteries, and I found acid all over the front pan - paint already etched through. After dumping a box of baking soda and cleaning it up, I ordered a couple of battery pads (maxi) to absorb and neutralize the battery acid from Mid-Ohio until these batteries give up the ghost - then it's time for an optima in the smuggler's box. No more lead-acids. I have had it. Next I call the shop and demand they take care of the pan.
