transmission dilema
Am I better off buying a 1970-71 transmission that is "probably good" and sells for $800 (where the seller was told it works) ---
or.... a 1970-71 tranny for $280 where the guy doesn't know what the condition of it is??? So I'm guessing at the risk -- does anybody know the likely cost of typical repairs to get an idea about the exposure here? |

You're better off buying a 72-73.

Sorry about the unhelpfullness of my reply Randy! If you have the chance I would get both; a trans can teach a man a lot. To be able to play around and make a project out of one and not have to worry about getting it in the car in a hurry would make me happy and probably teach me a bit.
