Optima Batterys setup advice needed
I am thinking of replacing my bad battery out with an Optima. I went to Cosco this afternoon to pick one up but the polarity of the posts are in the opposite locations to what is needed in my 1977 911s.
I know there are a lot of advocates of Optima out there from doing searches on this sight. What are you folks doing w.r.t. to the opposite post locations or do I need to go to a specialty shop to get a special Optima battery for my vehicle? Oh ya, I neglected to mention that I also tried Autozone. Any suggestions or even pictures would be greatly appreciated. p.s. This might help some of you answer my question: the battery location on my vehicle is on the driver side(left) front corner of the vehicle. The stock cables do not seam to have enough reach to reverse the battery so that the (+) post is located closer to the driver, which is the proper installation setup for my vehicle.

If you go with an Optima orange-top battery you'll be fine. You'll only need to install a longer ground cable....$5 at Autozone.

Can you give us a pic? The plus side should be the closes to the driver and the minus closes to the front. The metal strap should bolt right to inside the front and the cable is probably on 6 inches long. Maybe your getting it confused because the + cable is black? The - is a metal wire strap.
I have an optima in my 1980 911sc and follwing some of the suggestion on this site. Mounted with a slick Aluminum mounting plate: Here is the thread: Optima battery in 911 SC

Just get a longer ground cable and it'll work fine if you use an Optima red-top.
