A little help with drivers side window?

Ok, so I just got this nice 79' 911SC - Targa, thank you very much

New clutch & crank case seal... removed AC... rewired sterio (PO had left a jumble of wires hanging down...

There's just one thing that really bugs me and I haven't been able to figure it out. The drivers side window won't quite go up all the way, there's about a 3/4" gap all along the top of the window. I've had the door panel off and was able to loosen a few things up and jiggle it up a bit more. I think I'm missing something though.

Anyone have any pics of the place I'm supposed to adjust to get this thing up?

thx,
Mike

It's a pain..
I believe there are 3 adjustment points on the door that all need to work in conjunction to get alignment right.
As with all things on this car.. PATIENCE goes a very long way.
I did once, a very long time ago. Worked great til the car went into the shop for a bender.. Has never been right since, and I'm to lazy to try again.
Well, maybe next month.... right?

By the way, in the back of the Haynes Manual has something about the position of these set bolts. Take a gander at that page next time your at the autoparts store to doublecheck.

There are two stop adjustments one for window up and one for window down. As you move the window up or down you should see a rectangular shaped pience of pot metal with a plastic white block on one end. there is an allen bolt holding the pot metal piece to the window adjustment frame. I can't remember which is which to adjust. This is also for electric windows. For hand crank I don't have a clue.

I finally had enough time to take this apart and really think about things this time. The issue is now resolved but it sounds like it was different than either of your suggestions.

Directly to the left and slightly above the regulator there is a small ovalish access hole that was stamped out of the the sheet metal. When the window is rolled down about 4 inches an allen bolt becomes visible. I loosened this bolt, rolled the window up and sure enough -- It worked!

I had to use a marker to mark where to tighten the bolt down again, as the bolt had become inaccessable to my allen wrench when I rolled the window up.

What a PITA. I've probably had the door apart 5 times now. It will be nice to have a window that rolls up all the way though. The Targa is my driver and I've really lucked out with the nice weather since I bought it (2 weeks, no rain... that's a record for this time of year in Seattle).

Thx,
Mike
