Removing seats
Howdy,
Is there a trick to removing seats from a 911? Or do you just force the socket over the four bolts in the track? Thanks, Dino |

Nope, it's just a pain in the butt, especially if you have power seats. Moving all the way fore and aft allows access to the bolts. Make sure you dis-connect the electrical connection(s).

To remove seat, slide seat all the way to the rear and remove front two bolts. Then slide seat to the front all the way and remove rear two bolts.
installation is the reverse.

It may help to purchase a cheap socket set that have thinner walls which will allow the socket to fit completely over the bolt. When I reinstalled the seats, I used allen heads.

tsuter has it right. Remove the front bolts first, then the rear. You'll sturggle if you tru it any other way.

You can also use a set of hex wrenches that have a ball type end so you can use then on an angle makes it easier.

OK...let's be clear here:
-early cars may have used a total of four bolts....later cars use six ( one in front, two at rear... each side). -early cars may have used hex head bolts...later cars use allen-headed cap screws. Might make some of the responses more understandable... ![]() ---Wil Ferch

Remove the front bolts, and then get in the back seat and shove really hard (while a friend holds the seat slider lever up) and you'l push the seats beyond the track so that you can get a straight on access to the rear bolts.

Unless of course you run into the problem I had on mine one time... One of the rear bolts had come loose a bit somehow and got stuck into the track, not allowing the seat to move in either direction.
Since the bolt was hidden by the track I was in trouble! After realizing what had happened, I was able to remove all the other bolts, move the seats sideways a bit, then hacksaw the bolt in half and extract the remains. That was fun... ![]()
